A memory companion for your Mac. Write notes, Atomus turns them into atoms, and reviews slide down from the notch while you work.
Atomus is a small Mac app that lives in your menu bar. You write what you want to remember, Atomus turns it into an atom, and a few seconds or a few weeks later that atom slides down from your notch while you're already working.
Everything runs on your Mac. Your notes never leave unless you sync them yourself.
Three acts, one loop
Capture is cheap, extraction is automatic, review is ambient. Each piece is small. Together they form a loop that quietly raises the floor of what you remember, without you ever feeling like you're doing "knowledge work."
Start here
Install Atomus in under a minute, pick a folder for your vault, and capture your first atom. The whole flow is in Getting Started.
Read for depth
If you want the philosophy first, Why Atomus covers the 140 year old experiment behind the app, why your notes live on your Mac, and the mental model driving every design choice.
Who it's for
Students preparing for exams. Researchers holding years of context. Writers, engineers, and language learners. Anyone who writes things down hoping to remember them later.
