Installation

Download Atomus, drag it into Applications, grant two permissions. That's the whole setup.

Atomus runs natively on macOS. It's a small menu bar app that talks to your disk and appears from your notch when a review is due. No cloud, no account, no sign up.

Requirements

  • macOS 13 (Ventura) or later
  • Apple Silicon or Intel Mac
  • About 40 MB of disk space

Download and install

Grab the latest build from the downloads page. The installer is a signed .dmg. Open it, drag Atomus.app into your Applications folder, and eject the installer when you're done.

First launch

Open Atomus from Applications or Spotlight.

Press ⌘ Space, type "atomus", hit enter.
Press ⌘ Space, type "atomus", hit enter.

On first launch, macOS will ask for a couple of permissions.

  • Notifications, so reviews can appear while you're in another app
  • Accessibility, so the global capture shortcut works from anywhere

Grant both. Atomus doesn't need anything else.

That's the whole setup. You'll see the Atomus icon in your menu bar from now on. Next, pick a home for your notes in Create your vault.
